Frequently Asked Questions
WIGSUNIQUE

1. Why choose Lace Wigs?

Lace wigs represent the latest technology for non-surgical hair replacement in the world today. A lace front wig when designed and constructed properly will be the closest thing to your own real hair, or can replace the hair you never had. It is the most natural, most beautiful, hair replacement system imaginable today. It is made out of real human hair and hand tied into a very sheer lace base one single hair at a time. It should look so natural that it can be virtually undetectable to anyone, even at a distance of only a few inches away. You can wear it for weeks at a time without removing it. You can comb your hair straight back, part it in the middle or even go swimming with it. There are no limitations to your look or lifestyle. You can shower, sleep, perm, wash or do anything you would normally do. You can finally have the hair you always dreamed about!

2. What is a lace wig?

The lace wig is very unique. It’s built on a very sheer lace cap, and the key feature is that at the hairline, and when parted, a lace wig looks incredibly natural, as if the hair is growing right out of the scalp. This is not your traditional wig. It’s much better and unbelievable natural!

3. What are full lace wigs and lace front wigs?

The term 'full lace' denotes that the base cap is made lace throughout or around the entire base making it possible to wear your unit in a ponytail and creating a realistic and natural looking hairline around the entire unit. But 'lace front' wigs have lace in front and different materials at the back of the cap. You still get the completely natural look with the front lace but you can't wear a high ponytail at back. One is also able to purchase a 'lace frontal' hair piece that can be used with weaving wefts. With this arrangement, the wefts are glued or sewn into one’s hair and the lace frontal applied only at the hair line.

4. Lace Front Wigs & Full lace wigs. What is the difference?

Lace front wigs have lace only in the front, creating a realistic and natural looking hairline. Full lace wigs contains lace through or around the entire base making it possible to wear your unit in a ponytail and creating a realistic and natural looking hairline around the entire unit. A full lace wig is capable of being parted anywhere on the scalp. And you still get the completely natural look but with the front lace. But you can not wear a high ponytail for the lace front wig.

5. Which lace is better, French lace or Swiss lace?

French lace is more durable than Swiss lace and it is the best choice for new lace wig wearers. The French lace tends to last longer and is virtually tear resistant during the application process when using tougher glues and bonds. The Swiss Lace is more thin, delicate and natural looking. The Swiss Lace is more undetectable but the main concern is that the lace breaks down faster and can rip much easier; The Swiss lace is the most undetectable of the laces, but the most fragile. The Swiss lace cap choice is best for experienced lace wig users. Overall, both French and Swiss lace looks extremely natural and as the lace seems to disappear into your scalp. Your unit will come with extra lace extending from the hairline, which you will trim off to custom fit your hairline and then bond with your choice of adhesive.

6. What type of lace is used?

Lace wigs can be ordered in French Lace or Swiss Lace. French lace is more durable and will hold up better over time. The Swiss lace is slightly thinner and more fragile. Most people order the French Lace due to its durability. If applied properly, both caps will give you the undetectable hairline finish you're looking for.

7. Can I wear a lace wig if I have my own hair?

Yes, however you have to wear your hair as flat as possible (i.e. in cornrows) underneath. It is also best to have your own scalp showing (parts) when you wear the unit as it creates a more natural, realistic look.

 8. How long will my lace wig last?

The life span of your unit is based on your maintenance. A lace wig unit can last for many months or even years depending on your usage and upkeep. With proper care, your lace wig can last a long time. French Lace is the most durable and lasts longer than the Swiss Lace.

9. What are bleached knots?

Bleached knots are currently to best method of making the hair appear as if it is growing from your scalp. If you do not have bleached knots you will see a dark dot on the skin, however, bleached knots does not mean the knot is totally bleached out. Usually the knots are just a shade lighter than the rest of the hair. If the knots are single knots at the hairline you do not need to bleach the knots, dabbing foundation based powder on the knots with a brush; bleached or not helps hide them as well. We recommend using knot sealer to seal your knots on the underside of your wig. Just flip your wig inside out and be sure to protect the remaining hair with a plastic bag. Spray a light spray of knot sealer on the knots of lace wig cap.

10. How do I wash my lace wig?

First, place unit on waterproof wig stand. Apply pre-shampoo on dry hair, work in gently, rinse with warm water, and then apply mild shampoo. When applying shampoo keep wig stand in upright position, while gently working shampoo in. Do not bunch hair up while lathering and avoid circular motions, which can cause tangling of the hair. Comb hair gently with fingertips. Rinse hair thoroughly and follow with a deep or daily conditioner, applying the same way. Let stand, for 2-3 minutes to moisturize and condition. You can gently comb hair with a wide tooth comb to remove any tangles. Rinse conditioner out completely, pat hair dry and apply maintenance spray for an all day protection. After washing, try to remove as much water as possible by squeezing the hair with your fingers. Allow wig to completely air dry on a dry towel or wire stand. Once wig is dry, style as usual. Note: for synthetic wigs, DO NOT applies heat or place near a heated source, including in the sun!
